TeraScan software permits interactive processing of data frommeteorological, land, and ocean remote sensing spacecraft sensors.TeraScan provides access to the fullest resolution imaging, sounding, anddata satellites, with 1 km earth location accuracy. Algorithms includedfor performing all radiometric calibration of raw sensor data,geophysical algorithms for deriving quantities such as: sea, land, andcloud-top temperatures; vertical profiles of atmospheric temperature andmoisture; geostrophic winds at standard levels in the atmosphere;vegetation and snowcover properties over land; optical thickness; andatmospheric visibility over the ocean. All raw sensor data, and derivedgeophysical data, can be registered to standard map projections.A suite of standard image processing functions is provided. Data fromother sources, such as land stations, ships, bouys, and aircraft, may beingested into TeraScan for processing and intercomparison with spacecraftremote sensing data.Applications include weather, sea-ice, forest fire, agricultural, andoceanographic monitoring.
